The Van Driver Training Course is designed specifically for drivers operating vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. Delivered by DVSA approved Fleet Driver Trainers, it helps reduce the risks associated with van driving while promoting safer, more efficient driving behaviour.

Course Structure:

This is a bespoke, on-road van driver training course delivered in vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. The session lasts approximately three hours and can be delivered 1:1 or 2:1 with the trainer (depending on vehicle type).

Topics covered include:

Vehicle size, weight and load limits
Speed limits and legal requirements
Safe loading and securing of goods
Awareness of blind spots and mirror use
Manoeuvring, reversing and low-speed control
Hazard perception and spatial awareness

At the end of the course, you’ll receive a Driving Risk Assessment Report with feedback and a graded outcome:

Low Risk: No further action required
Medium Risk: Recommendations for improvement provided
High Risk: Further training recommended

Participants must provide a suitable company or personal vehicle, which must be:

Roadworthy, taxed and insured for training purposes
Clean, safe and legally compliant

Your trainer will perform a brief vehicle inspection before the session begins.
