BLT Driver Training at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026

BLT Driver Training attended the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 at NEC Birmingham, connecting with fleet operators and transport managers about professional driver training, assessments, and EV courses.

We were proud to exhibit at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 at the NEC Birmingham from 21 to 23 April. The CV Show is the UK’s largest commercial vehicle event, and this year’s edition was the biggest yet, with 320 exhibitors and over 15,000 industry professionals through the doors across three days.

Why we were at the CV Show 2026

The Commercial Vehicle Show brings together fleet operators, transport managers, vehicle manufacturers, and service providers from across the UK road transport industry. For BLT Driver Training, it was the right place to meet the people responsible for keeping drivers safe and fleets compliant.

We attended to speak directly with the fleet managers and transport professionals who face the same challenges every day: reducing risk on the road, meeting compliance requirements, improving driver behaviour, and managing the transition to electric vehicles. These are the problems our training is built to solve.

What we brought to the show

Our stand focused on the professional driver training and assessment services we deliver to fleets of all sizes across the UK. Visitors were able to speak with our team about how we structure training programmes around each fleet’s specific needs.

The services that generated the most interest at the CV Show included:

Driver Assessments are practical evaluations carried out in the operator’s own vehicle. They identify risk, measure competence, and establish a clear baseline for training needs across a fleet.

Advanced Driver Training is on-road coaching delivered one-to-one or two-to-one, designed to improve safety, vehicle control, and hazard awareness for experienced drivers.

Van Driver Training covers on-road coaching for drivers operating light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. With LCV traffic increasing year on year, this was one of the most discussed topics at the show.

Electric Vehicle Driver Training combines practical on-road training with EV-specific theory. As more fleets commit to electrification, drivers need training on range optimisation, regenerative braking, and the differences in vehicle handling. This was a recurring conversation at the CV Show 2026, reflecting the wider industry focus on decarbonisation.

eLearning and virtual courses were also a strong area of interest for larger fleets looking to deliver training at scale without pulling every driver off the road for a full day.

All of our training is delivered by DVSA ADI Fleet Accredited Trainers and is available in-vehicle, virtually, or online. We operate nationwide.

Connecting with the industry at NEC Birmingham

Over the three days at the NEC, we had conversations with fleet operators managing anything from a handful of vans to hundreds of commercial vehicles. The common thread was a desire to reduce incidents, control insurance costs, and give drivers the skills they need to operate safely.

We also ran a prize draw at our stand. Visitors who scanned our code were entered to win a £100 Amazon voucher, which generated plenty of traffic and some great conversations about fleet training.

The CV Show’s Driver Safety Theatre and the broader event programme, which featured over 150 speakers, reinforced the industry’s growing focus on driver competence and training as a risk management tool. That focus aligns directly with what we do.

About BLT Driver Training

BLT Driver Training is part of The Blue Lamp Trust, a registered charity dedicated to community safety. We deliver professional driver training and assessments for fleet, taxi, private hire, and corporate drivers across the UK.

Every pound we earn through our training goes back into funding community safety services. When an organisation works with us, they get accredited, professional training and the knowledge that their investment supports a cause beyond their own fleet.

What comes next

The conversations we had at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 are already turning into training programmes. If we spoke with you at the NEC and you’d like to pick up the conversation, or if you missed the show and want to find out how we can support your fleet, get in touch.
